Boy, I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say things like that. I get hundreds of emails every month from folks who want to start their own eBay business, but have no clue how to get started, how to find products, and most of all, how to build a profitable, full time eBay business.

Oh, by the way, that's not me pulling my hair out in the picture above :o). That's me in the photo below with my beautiful family (I'm cursed with girls) at our Sea World Vacation in Orlando, Florida.

In 1995, I decided - along with the help of my boss at the time - that I just wasn't cut out to be an employee. He decided to fire me at the same moment that I decided to tell him to take his job and shove it. It was one of the few things he and I had ever agreed on.

As I was packing up my desk to leave, I decided that would be the last job and the last boss I would ever have.

If I was going to succeed or fail in life it was going to be on my terms, not the terms of some schmuck with a bad necktie and bad attitude.

I launched my first business the next day with less than $50 in my bank account and never looked back. That was nearly 10 years ago. Since then I have been making a very good living from my own business ventures.

This year my various business interests will gross almost a million dollars
and I work exclusively from home.
I wish my old boss could see me now :o).

Along the way I have written several popular books on small business start-up and management. I have written extensively on the subject of online business for national publications and you will find my articles published on hundreds of websites. I have been interviewed by ABC News, National Public Radio, Alabama Technology Today Magazine, and many other media outlets.

I have taught numerous small business seminars and act as an advisor and mentor to a number of successful business owners and serve on the boards of several entrepreneurial and technological organizations.

I am the author of two popular business startup ebooks: Small Business Success Secrets and The Amazing CD Money Machine. I even write a syndicated newspaper column on small business called "Small Business QA with Tim Knox."

I am also a contributing writer to Entrepreneur.com, the website of the national publication, Enterpreneur Magazine.

I became an eBay Powerseller in less two months.

I am a highly regarded expert at selling online and frequently interviewed on the subject.

Life is great now, but it hasn't always been this way.
Trust me, I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth...
Anyone who has read my books or heard me speak knows that I came from a dirt poor farming family and made it to adulthood only by the grace of God and the strength of a good mother.

I started working parttime when I was 11 and fulltime at 16. I graduated high school, but never went to college

At one time I worked three jobs just to try and make ends meet (they never met, by the way). I got by on 3 hours sleep a night and had no time for my family and friends.

After years of struggling I finally managed to get hired by a large corporation and spent 10 years climbing the corporate ladder, only to have it jerked out from under me. Thanks to corporate cutbacks and a down turn in the economy I suddenly found myself out of work and out of money. I went from being a well-paid manager to being unemployed, bankrupt and sleeping on my mother's couch in less than a few weeks.

I know how quickly the tide can change. The difference between me and most folks is I refused to give up. I knew that I was destined for better things. Every time life kicked me in the butt I dusted myself off and kept on going. I never gave up hope.

Through perserverence and hardwork, I rebounded from rock bottom and fought my way back to the top. In the last 10 years I have built a string of highly successful businesses.

I have earned a six figure income for many years and live a very good life. I have a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters. We live on a huge estate in the country and have the best of everything. I work when I want and we play when we want.
